Switzerland round-up: Top two held

UEFA Champions League contenders FC Basel were unable to close the gap on leaders Grasshopper-Club.

FC Basel, fresh from their Tuesday night victory in the UEFA Champions League, missed the chance to close the gap on Swiss first division leaders Grasshopper-Club after a 1-1 draw at Neuchâtel Xamax FC.

Barberis saves Basel
Fonseca Leandro put Neuchâtel ahead on 48 minutes, but Basel, despite looking jaded following their heroics against FC Spartak Moskva, came back to equalise seven minutes from the end through Sébastien Barberis.

Zürich honours even
Grasshoppers ended the weekend still four points clear, their derby against FC Zürich ending 1-1. Antonio Barijho put Grasshoppers ahead on eight minute, but early in the second period Ursal Yasar levelled, and Zürich were unlucky not to take all three points after having the best of the remainder of the play.

Young Boys move up
The capital cross-city match saw BSC Young Boys go third after beating high-flying FC Thun 3-0. Johan Berisha scored a double in the first half and Gürkan Sermeter confirmed victory with his 82nd-minute goal.

Delémont drama
FC St. Gallen secured a useful point in a 2-2 draw against Servette FC, while FC Luzern led 2-0 away against SR Delémont until the 88th minute, only for their fellow strugglers to score twice before the end to deny their visitors victory, and bottom-placed FC Aarau held FC Wil 1900 0-0.
