Turkey round-up: Galatasaray edge out rivals

Galatasaray SK recovered from their defeat by FC Barcelona to beat Istanbulspor AS 2-0.

Turkish Superleague leaders Galatasaray SK bounced back from their midweek defeat by FC Barcelona to beat city rivals Istanbulspor AS 2-0.

Bülent goal
Defender Bülent Korkmaz, starting his first game of the season, made it 1-0 on the quarter-hour mark with a powerful header from Elvir Baljic's corner. Eight minutes from half-time, Ümit Karan added a second for Galatasaray.

Second for Besiktas
Besiktas JK are up to second after a 1-0 victory against MKE Ankaragücü. Ahmet Dursun scored the only goal on seven minutes, and although Besiktas dominated the match they could not increase their lead.

Impressive result
Samsunspor gained an impressive home victory against at Trabzonspor, the visitors clinching the victory on 88 minutes when Celil Sagir took a pass from Müslim Can and put his team ahead with a simple finish Trabzonspor have now gone six home matches without a win, losing five.

Late equaliser
At the bottom of the table, Kocealispor got their first point of the season with a 1-1 draw against Diyarbakirspor. It could have been more had they held onto their 22nd-minute lead through Emrah Eren, but Alper Salgin broke their hearts with his equaliser, seconds from full time.

Malatyaspor on form
Denizlispor overcame Adanaspor AS 2-0 with goals from Servet Çetin and Mustafa Özkan, struggling Malatyaspor achieved a superb 6-0 victory against Altay GK, and the match between Göztepe and Bursaspor ended with a 1-1 draw.

Romaschenko double
Gençlerbirligi dropped to fourth after losing 2-0 to Gaziantepspor on Sunday, Maxim Romaschenko scoring both goals, one in each half.

Six-goal thriller
Fenerbahçe SK beat Elazigspor 4-2 in an exciting game to stay in touch with the leading pack, while Bursaspor secured a point in Izmir from Göztepe with a 1-1 draw.
