Hammers break record for Ashton

Transfer round-up: West Ham United FC are poised to break their transfer record with the €10.5m signing of Dean Ashton.

West Ham United FC are set to break their transfer record with the signing of former England Under-21 striker Dean Ashton. Ashton will complete a €10.5m move to east London from Norwich City FC on Monday pending a medical. The 22-year-old has scored 18 times in 46 appearances for Norwich since moving there in January 2005.

Serie A side ACF Fiorentina have signed Romanian international goalkeeper Bogdan Lobont from AFC Ajax for a reported fee of €1.5m. The 28-year-old joins the Italian club on a four-year contract.

FC Rostov have made a double signing, bringing in midfield duo Maksym Beletskiy from FC Moskva and Juris Laizāns from PFC CSKA Moskva. Beletskiy, 25, joins the Russian Premier-Liga outfit on a two-year deal while 27-year-old Latvian international Laizāns arrives on loan until the end of the year.

Another Russian side making a move in the transfer market is FC Tom Tomsk. They have made the signing of 22-year-old forward Pavel Pogrebnyak on a three-year contract from FC Spartak Moskva.

In Poland GKS Górnik Leczna have made their seventh signing of the winter break, bringing in forward Jakub Grzegorzewski from Korona Kielce. The 23-year-old signs a three-and-a-half-year deal with Górnik.

Meanwhile, Polish international midfielder Michal Goliński has returned to old club Lech Poznan on loan until the end of the Ekstraklasa season from Groklin Grodziski Wielkopolski. The 24-year-old goes back to Lech just a year after making the move to Groclin.
