Russia round-up: Thrilling conclusion in prospect

PFC CSKA Moskva and FC Lokomotiv Moskva both won to set up a tight finish in the next two weeks.

The Russian Premier-Liga is heading for a thrilling finish over the next two weeks as both PFC CSKA Moskva and FC Lokomotiv Moskva won on Saturday.

One-point margin
CSKA, still a point ahead having played a game extra, secured a 1-0 win at lowly FC Alania Vladikavkaz. Russian international midfield player Andrei Solomatin scored the only goal with a powerful shot from 30 metres on ten minutes, a lead which CSKA were happy to sit back on as they prepare for their remaining games at home to defending title-holders FC Spartak Moskva - who are five points behind but were not in action as they prepare to face FC Basel in a rescheduled UEFA Champions League match on Tuesday - and at FC Saturn Moskovskaya Oblast.

Evseev double
Lokomotiv's in-form defender Vadim Evseev scored twice in a 3-0 victory at FC Sokol Saratovratov. Dmitri Loskov set up Evseev for the first goal, and Jacob Lekcetho scored the second before the hero of the night scored again to complete a confident victory. FC Zenit St. Peterburg, Alania and FC Dinamo Moskva provide Lokomotiv's opposititon in their final three matches.

Safety for Rostselmash
FC Rostselmash Rostov-Na-Donu have secured their place in the top flight for next season, beating FC Zenit St.Petersburg 2-0 away from home, Andrei Akopyants and Andrei Karpovich scoring for the visitors.

Only home winners
FC Saturn Moskovskaya Oblast were the only side to earn a home victory on Saturday, as Ghanian striker Prince Amoako recorded scored twice in a comeback 2-1 win against SC Rotor Volgograd after Evgeni Aldonin had put the visitors ahead.

Tale of two penalties
Alexander Shirko scored his seventh goal in eight matches at FC Torpedo Moskva beat FC Uralan Elista 1-0 as Uralan's Zurab Tsiklauri missed a second-half penalty, but Valeri Kechinov made no mistake from his spot-kick to earn FC Shinnik Yaroslavl a victory at Dinamo.

Sunday match
In Sunday's fixture, FC Krylya Sovetov Samara beat FC Torpedo-ZIL Moskva 2-0, also away from home. Brazilian striker Gaucho and Anrei Karyaka scored the goals.
