AEK Athens FC stayed top of the Hellenic National League despite being held to a 1-1 draw by Olympiakos Piraeus FC in a hard-fought top-of-the-table encounter on matchday seven, when there were six other stalemates with identical results.
On a muddy ground after the downpours in Athens on Friday and Saturday, Predrag Djordjevic fired past goalkeeper Dionyssis Hiotis to open the scoring but an inch-perfect assist from Thodoris Zagorakis set up Demis Nikolaidis' leveller.
Iraklis FC, in third, drew 1-1 with FC PAOK Thessaloniki, taking the lead with Marcin Mieczel’s fifth goal of the season on 37 minutes - but substitute Nikos Froussos hit an 82nd-minute equaliser.
Panathinaikos FC collected their fourth consecutive win thanks to a 1-0 defeat of second-placed Panionios FC, with the only goal of the game a header from Nikos Lyberopoulos on 15 minutes.
Proodeftiki FC – along with Olympiakos the only unbeaten club in the league - demolished Akratitos FC 5-1. Petr Tchvetanov gave the visitors the lead but Rolan Zaimi, Paraskevas Andralas, Giorgos Poulopoulos, Kostas Mangos and Alexandros Tatsis ensured the early goal was immaterial.
Panahaiki FC picked up their first goal this season in a 1-1 draw with Xanthi FC, grabbing the leveller through Emanuele Morini after Kostas Ilia had opened the scoring and securing the point when Serjan Klaevic saved an Abderahim Ouakili penalty late on.
Nikos Anastopoulos’ first game as coach of PAS Giannina FC against Egaleo FC was yet another of the draws. Further stalemates were fought out by Ionikos and OFI Crete FC as well as Kallithea GS and Aris Thessaloniki FC.
