Spanish international midfielder Gabri García has followed former FC Barcelona assistant coach Henk Ten Cate to AFC Ajax, signing a three-year contract with the Amsterdam club.

Ten Cate factor
The 27-year-old, a graduate of the Barça youth system who claimed two Spanish titles and the UEFA Champions League at the Camp Nou, said: "I chose Ajax because of the coach, whom I know very well after working with him at Barcelona for three years. He convinced me it was a good move.

Familiar culture
"Ajax are a world-famous team who, like Barcelona, have a famous youth department," added Gabri. "That is why I think I will adjust quickly to the club and their football culture." Gabri won the 1999 FIFA U-20 World Cup with Spain and was a silver medallist at the Sydney Olympics. He has been capped three times by his country.
