Lachuer leaves Auxerre for Troyes

News round-up: Yann Lachuer has left the club where he won the French title while players are also on the move in Belgium, Portugal, Russia and Spain.

The 33-year-old AJ Auxerre playmaker Yann Lachuer has left for Ligue 1 rivals ES Troyes Aube Champagne on a one-year contract. Troyes only just avoided relegation last season in their first term back in the French top flight. Lachuer was part of Auxerre's double-winning squad of 1995/96 and also lifted the French Cup in 2002/03 and 2004/05.

Real Betis Balompié have released defender Paolo Castellini from his contract, which was due to expire in 2009. Castellini joined Betis two summers ago but has been limited to 13 Spanish league appearances by a series of injuries. The 27-year-old Italian, who was formerly with US Cremonese, Torino Calcio and Brescia Calcio, is free to find a new club.

Following the acquisition of defender Marcin Kuś, FC Torpedo Moskva have strengthened their squad with another Polish player. Korona Kielce striker Grzegorz Piechna, the Ekstraklasa's 21-goal top scorer in 2005/06, has signed a three-year contract with the Russian team. "The good conditions offered by Torpedo were key to my decision," said the 29-year-old.

Georgia midfielder Zurab Menteshashvili has left Latvian club Skonto FC to sign for Russian strugglers FC Shinnik Yaroslavl. The versatile 26-year-old has joined up with his new colleagues at their training camp in Poland. He has agreed a three-year contract and will be reunited with his former Skonto team-mate Andrejs Rubins.

Portuguese club Gil Vicente FC have signed strikers Edinho and Betinho on three-year contracts. Edinho, 23, joins from SC Braga after spending last season on loan at FC Paços de Ferreira, while 18-year-old Brazilian Betinho arrives from Clube Náutico Capibaribe. "I want to work hard and score goals to help the club achieve its objectives," said Edinho, who scored twice in 21 games for Paços de Ferreira.

Belgian side KRC Genk have signed midfielder Wouter Vrancken, buying out the remaining year of his contract at UEFA Intertoto Cup contenders KAA Gent for an undisclosed fee. The 27-year-old has agreed a four-year deal with his new team, saying: "For me, Genk are an ideal club who challenge for honours and European qualification every year."
