Maniche makes Atlético move

Portugal's Maniche has joined Club Atlético de Madrid in a €9m switch from FC Dinamo Moskva, having agreed a three-year deal with the Spanish side.

Portugal midfielder Maniche has joined Club Atlético de Madrid in a €9m transfer from FC Dinamo Moskva, having agreed a three-year deal with the Spanish side.

Russian switch
Maniche, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Chelsea FC from the Russian club, will become Atlético's ninth summer signing, linking up with international team-mate Costinha who made the same move in May. The 28-year-old played seven matches and scored two goals at this summer's FIFA World Cup, taking his cap count to 38, as Portugal finished fourth. Previously with FC Alverca and SL Benfica, he was part of the FC Porto team that lifted the UEFA Cup and European Champion Clubs' Cup in consecutive campaigns between 2003 and 2004, before going to Moscow last summer.
