Racing take a chance on Scaloni

Argentina right-back Lionel Scaloni has signed a one-year contract with Real Racing Club Santander having been released by RC Deportivo La Coruña.

Argentinian international Lionel Scaloni has signed a one-year deal with Real Racing Club Santander after being released by RC Deportivo La Coruña.

Summer clear-out
The 28-year-old right-back spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham United FC, but failed to impress in the Premiership and Deportivo gave him freedom to find a new club this summer in a clear-out also involving Diego Tristán. The 30-year-old former Spain striker rejoined RCD Mallorca yesterday and Scaloni has followed suit in ending his nine-year spell at the Riazor. "I'm delighted to be joining Racing and I plan to repay their trust," he said. "It hasn't been a nice summer for me and all I want is for this new adventure to go as well as it can."
