Joan Capdevila struck twice as RC Deportivo La Coruña continued their unbeaten start to the Primera División season with a 2-0 defeat of Villarreal CF.

Overnight lead
Capdevila put Deportivo ahead early in the match from distance, and he scored again midway through the second half as he pounced on a free-kick to take Deportivo on to seven points from three games, while Villarreal remain on just one having again failed to open their goal account this season. Deportivo lead the league overnight but several sides could move ahead of them on Sunday, with four teams holding maximum points from two fixtures. Two of those, Valencia CF and Getafe CF, meet each other while FC Barcelona go to Real Racing Club Santander and Sevilla FC take on city rivals Real Betis Balompié.
