Viggo Jensen has been dismissed as coach of Danish side Silkeborg IF with Peter Knudsen replacing him and Ebbe Sand taking over as sporting director.
Wednesday's 2-1 home defeat by fellow strugglers Viborg FF left Silkeborg second from bottom of the Danish Superliga and prompted Jensen's dismissal after four years in charge. "We really would have liked Viggo Jensen to continue as coach for longer, but sometimes trying something new is the only option," said Silkeborg chairman Kent Madsen.
Jensen's assistant Knudsen has been appointed to the helm while 34-year-old former Danish international Sand has come in as his assistant and also the club's sporting director. "We have great faith that this new coaching duo will be able to bring better results," said Madsen. Sand added: "It is a big challenge for me to be both assistant coach and sporting director, but I would never have said yes if I did not think we could survive in the Superliga."
