Gleb wins Belarus gong

VfB Stuttgart and Belarus midfield player Alexander Gleb has been voted his country's player of the year.

VfB Stuttgart midfield player Alexander Gleb has been voted Belarus's player of the year by the country's football experts, coaches and journalists.

National event
The 21-year-old Belarus international beat off competition from FC Dynamo Kyiv playmaker Valentin Belkevich and midfield player Dmitry Likhtorovich from FC BATE Borisov in a poll conducted by national sports daily Pressball.

Belkevich boost
Belkevich, who won the award in 1995, had the consolation of being named the country's player of the decade. The 29-year-old started his playing career with FC Dinamo Minsk before moving to Kiev in 1996.
