Four Georgian players have joined Turkish strugglers Kocaelispor as Guvenç Kurtar's side prepare to try and stave off the threat of relegation when the Super League season resumes after the winter break.
Kocaelispor's new quartet comprises Givi Didava, Zaza Janashia, Grigol Imedadze and Revaz Kemoklidze. The 26-year-old defender Didava has arrived on a permanent move from FC Torpedo Kutaisi, while 23-year-old Kemoklidze is on loan from the same club and 22-year-old striker Imedadze is on loan from FC Spartak-Alania Vladikavkaz.
The most famous of the four, striker Zaza Janashia, joins on a free transfer after having his contract terminated for disciplinary reasons by FC Lokomotivi Tbilisi while the club which owns his registration FC Lokomotiv Moskva have also decided to release him. Janashia and Kemoklidze have been capped six times each for Georgia, while Didava has made ten international appearances.
Turkish Cup holders Kocaelispor are currently bottom of the Super League with 13 points. The championship restarts on 8 February when Kocaelispor are due to play Besiktas JK.
