AC Omonia have signed defender Stavros Tziortziopoulos following his release by AEK Athens FC as they look ahead to playing UEFA Cup football in the summer.
Broken leg
The 28-year-old left-back has signed a two-year contract with Omonia, who finished second in the Cypriot league behind arch-rivals APOEL FC this season. Born in Greece, Tziortziopoulos counts Olympiacos CFP, Panionios NFC, Iraklis FC and Akratitos FC among his former clubs. The defender, who missed much of the 2004/05 season with a broken leg, played in two UEFA Champions League games for AEK in 2006/07. Omonia start their UEFA Cup campaign in the first qualifying round.
