Capdevila veers toward Villarreal

Villarreal CF have signed defender Joan Capdevila from RC Deportivo La Coruña as they prepare to return to Europe in the UEFA Cup first round later this summer.
Villarreal CF have signed defender Joan Capdevila from RC Deportivo La Coruña as they prepare to return to Europe in the first round of the 2007/08 UEFA Cup.

Deportivo stalwart
Having finished fifth in the Primera División, Villarreal have brought in Capdevila on a free transfer with the 29-year-old signing a three-year contract with the Yellow Submarine, subject to medical tests. Capped 12 times by Spain, Capdevila has been at Deportivo for the past seven seasons, scoring 16 goals in 179 league appearances. Prior to that, he played for RCD Espanyol and Club Atlético de Madrid. He scored four goals in 34 league appearances last season.
