Beşiktaş JK have signed Slovakia striker Filip Hološko from Vestel Manisaspor with Koray Avcı and Burak Yılmaz joining their Süper Lig rivals in exchange.
No details have been revealed of the contract signed by the 23-year-old Hološko, who declared his delight at securing a move to Istanbul, saying: "I am very happy to join Beşiktaş. I would like to make a contribution to their target of winning the title at the end of the season. I want to win the championship with Beşiktaş first and then play in the UEFA Champions League next season."
Hološko joined Manisaspor midway through the 2004/05 season from FC Slovan Liberec for €2.3m. His strength and aerial ability have seen him become a dangerous presence in Turkish football, scoring 21 goals in 65 league games for the Aegean club, and he is seen as an ideal foil for Beşiktaş Brazilian striker Bobo. His exchange deal move to Beşiktaş is said to be worth €5m.
Koray and Burak reluctantly agreed to join Manisaspor despite being eager to stay with Beşiktaş. The 29-year-old midfielder Koray joined Beşiktas from Rizespor in January 2005 and scored once in 82 league appearances, and also earned his first six caps for Turkey. The 22-year-old winger Burak was regarded as a major find when he joined from Antalyaspor in the summer of 2006, but has not fulfilled some expectations and leaves having scored six goals in 39 league games and made four international appearances.
Beşiktaş have also announced that Senegalese midfielder Lamine Diatta has been released by mutual consent after making just six appearances for Ertuğrul Sağlam's side after joining from AS Saint-Etienne in the summer. Out-of-favour striker İbrahim Akın has also left the side who lie fourth in the Süper Lig, joining Istanbul BB SK for €630,000. Beşiktaş are no longer involved in European competition having finished bottom of UEFA Champions League Group A.
