Serbia and Montenegro round-up: Crvena Zvezda stumble

FK Crvena Zvezda slipped up by recording a 3-0 defeat at the hands of FK Zeta.

FK Crvena Zvezda's 3-0 defeat by FK Zeta on Sunday meant they were unable to virtually guarantee themselves a place in the UEFA Cup next season by tightening their grip on second place in the table.

Maximum advantage
Zeta, taking maximum advantage of the fact that Crvena Zvezda were bereft of several first team regulars, opened the scoring in the 38th minute through Bojan Brnovic. Miloš Maric doubled the lead shortly after the interval and Brnovic completed the victory in the 70th minute with his second goal of the afternoon.

Sutjeska close in
Third-placed FK Sutjeska, meanwhile, closed in on Crvena Zvezda by overcoming FK Rad 2-1. Kristijan Tucakovic put the home team ahead after eight minutes and five minutes later Nikola Nikezic doubled the lead. The away side scored a consolation through Predrag Sikimic but the defeat leaves Rad four points away from safety.

Lead increased
FK Partizan, who have already won the league and secured a place in UEFA Champions League qualifying, defeated OFK Beograd 2-0. Andrija Delibasic and Ivica Iliev were both on target. FK Čukarički, meanwhile, kept alive their slim hopes of avoiding relegation courtesy of a 2-1 victory against FK Radnički Niš. Goals from Dejan Miljanic and Mitar Novakovic gave the visitors a precious three points.
Convincing win
Fourth-placed FK Vojvodina enjoyed a convincing 4-0 win against FK Rudar, FK Javor edged out FK Mogren 2-1 and the match between FK Radnički Obrenovac and FK Železnik ended goalless.

Relegation fears
FK Zemun and FK Sartid eased their relegation fears with respective draws against FK Obilic and FK Hajduk Kula, but both need at least another victory to ensure survival.
