Málaga promotion
The former Sporting Gijón, Rayo Vallecano and CD Numancia defender took up the reins at El Sardinero last summer, having just earned promotion to the top flight with Málaga FC. Muñiz led Racing into their inaugural UEFA Cup campaign, which ended at the group stage, and they finished the Liga season in 12th after avoiding relegation with one match left to play. Muñiz began his coaching career with UD Marbella in 2006.
