PSG complete Yakin swoop

Hakan Yakin has joined Paris Saint-Germain FC from FC Basel for a fee in the region of €1.5m.

Swiss international midfield player Hakan Yakin has joined Paris Saint-Germain FC from FC Basel for a fee in the region of €1.5m.

A new experience
The 26-year-old playmaker today signed a four-year contract with the Ligue 1 club and was presented to the press at the Parc des Princes. Yakin told PSG's website: "Until now I have never played outside Switzerland, so I have a very interesting challenge here, in a much stronger championship than the one I have been playing in. I hope to make the most of it and make myself a household name."

Sweet left foot
Yakin was one of the revelations of the last UEFA Champions League season, when he helped Basel qualify for the second group stage. PSG coach Vahid Halilhodzic said he had brought the left-sided player to Paris for his "quality of passing". Yakin was previously with FC Concordia Basel, FC St. Gallen and Grasshopper-Club.
