Murcia strengthen with Jensen

News round-up: Primera División newcomers Real Murcia CF have signed Danish midfield player Daniel Jensen.

Primera División newcomers Real Murcia CF have signed Danish international midfield player Daniel Jensen.

'A big challenge'
Jensen has agreed a one-year contract after his deal with Dutch side SC Heerenveen expired. He spent the summer training in his homeland with FC København and said: "I think of Spain as a big challenge for me."

Sánchez loan
Another club promoted to Spain's top flight last season, Albacete Balompié, have signed midfield player David Sánchez on loan from FC Barcelona. Sánchez confirmed he had rejected offers from Real Racing Club Santander and Real Valladolid "because I consider Albacete's prospects very interesting". The Seville-born former Under-18 international made his Barcelona first-team debut against Club Brugge KV in last season's UEFA Champions League.

Osasuna sign defender
On a busy day for Spanish transfers, CA Osasuna bolstered their squad with the addition of CD Numancia defender Carlos Cuéllar, who has signed a three-year contract with the option to extend by one season. He is the fourth new arrival at Osasuna this summer along with Unai Expósito, Julio César Pinheiro and Gorka García.

Gudjonsson joins Wolves
Newly promoted English side Wolverhampton Wanderers FC have completed the signing of Real Betis Balompié midfield player Joey Gudjonsson on a season-long loan. As part of the deal, Wolves have an option to sign the 23-year-old Icelandic international at the end of the season.

Back in England
Gudjonsson, who was on loan at Aston Villa FC last term, said: "I am delighted to be back in the Premiership. I know it is going to be a good challenge but I welcome any challenge so I'm looking forward to it."

Thome switch
Elsewhere in the Premiership, Bolton Wanderers FC have signed Brazilian defender Emerson Thome until the end of the season. Thome was given a free transfer by relegated Sunderland AFC this summer.

Vignal move
Liverpool FC defender Gregory Vignal has agreed a loan move to Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais FC. Vignal spent much of last season loaned out to SC Bastia. Rennes will have the option to buy the 22-year-old agreed at the end of the season.

Claessens' new deal
Belgian midfield player Gert Claessens has extended his contract at Dutch side SBV Vitesse by two years until 2006. Club coach Theo Mommers recently announced a €1.5m cut in player salaries and is looking to secure squad members on longer, but less lucrative deals. Moomets said: "The extension of Claessens' contract fits perfectly with our plans to make this a healthy club again."
