Members

FC Bayern München's Samuel Kuffour is on the shortlist for African Footballer of the Year along with Samuel Eto'o and El Hadji Diouf.

FC Bayern München defender Samuel Kuffour has been shortisted for this year's African Footballer of the Year award along with RCD Mallorca's Samuel Eto'o and El Hadji Diouf of RC Lens.

Winning goal
Ghanaian international Kuffour, who scored the winner in last week's European/South American Cup match against Argentina's Club Atlético Boca Juniors, is the firm favourite to take the title awarded by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Kuffour honours
Kuffour also helped Bayern win the UEFA Champions League and the 1. Bundesliga this year while Diouf, from French club Lens, scored vital goals to help Senegal earn a surprise place in next year's 2002 FIFA World Cup finals. The nomination of Eto'o comes after a solid campaign for Cameroon in the World Cup qualifiers plus strong performances for his Spanish club Mallorca.

Winner to be announced
The CAF will announce the winner at its annual awards ceremony in South Africa, which is expected to be held in February or March. The winner is chosen annually by a panel of members of CAF's press and technical committees.

Last year
Eto'o, 20, was third last year behind compatriots Patrick Mboma and Lauren and also won the Young Player of the Year award.
