Group 2: Sweden ease to victory

Sweden took another huge step towards China with a 4-0 Group 2 defeat of Switzerland.

Sweden took another huge step towards qualification to the 2003 FIFA Women's World Cup with today's 4-0 Group 2 defeat of Switzerland at the Råsunda stadium in Stockholm.

Huge crowd
A crowd in excess of 20,000 in the capital saw Sweden make a dream start against when Victoria Svensson opened the scoring with just two minutes gone.

Ljungberg on target
Hanna Ljungberg, the prolific Umea IK striker, doubled her side's advantage with the first of her two goals in the 42nd minute before Svensson secured the points with Sweden's third goal eight minutes after the restart.

Fine team display
Ljungberg capped a fine individual and team display in the 88th minute when she made it 4-0. Sweden have won all four of their qualifying games and will book a place at the finals in China with a point away to Denmark on 9 June.

Hot favourites
The Danes are hot favourites to finish behind the Swedes and will feature in play-off to find UEFA's fifth and final World Cup participant if they do so.
