Yugoslav club FK Rad have signed striker Dalibor Mitrovic on a two-and-half-year contract.

Yugoslav club FK Rad have signed striker Dalibor Mitrovic from K. Sint Truidense VV in Belgium.

Two-and-half-year contract
Mitrovic has put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half year contract with the Prva Savezna Liga outfit, and rejoins the club five seasons after leaving for Belgium. The 25-year-old forward began his career at Belgrade's FK Rad stadium in 1997/98 but joined the then Eerste Klasse champions Club Brugge KV the following season. After a successful loan spell with KVC Westerlo in 2000, Mitrovic went on to make 48 league appearances for Sint Truiden.

'Great experience'
Rad director Nebojsa Lukic revealed his delight at the signing of Mitrovic, saying: "This is a great experience for us. For the first time we have been successful and secured the return of one of our best players. We have the same dream; to cooperate and do something good for our club. We are in a tough position and we expect to battle for our lives in the league."

'Best choice'
Mitrovic, who was capped at Under-19 and Under-21 level by his country, is also happy to be back in his homeland. "I'm happy and I think that I have made the best choice," he said. "In Belgium, I played in one in every two matches, now I want to play all the time."

Relegation trouble
Rad are currently 15th in the Yugoslav First Division with 15 points and facing a fight against relegation as six teams go down this term and only four are promoted as the league reduces in size for 2003/04. The club are also thought to have completed the signing of 31-year-old FK Cukaricki midfield player Nenad Djukanovic.
