Haubitz handed Kärnten cards

Members

Austria's FC Kärnten have sacked coach Johannes Haubitz, with Didi Constantini taking temporary charge.

Initial success
Haubitz succeeded Rüdiger Abramczyk midway through the 2002/03 campaign and guided Kärnten to top-flight safety before securing qualification for the UEFA Cup by leading the team to the Austrian Cup final.

Reversal of fortunes
However, the club's fortunes have worsened this season, with Kärnten having won only two of their 14 league games to lie in ninth place in the ten-team Bundesliga - a single point above bottom side SV Austria Salzburg. In addition, Feyenoord knocked Kärnten out of the UEFA Cup in the first round.

'New energy'
"We hope Constantini's appointment will bring new energy to the team," said Kärnten director of sport Günter Hafner. Constantini, who coached the Austrian national side for one match, will take charge of the team for the first time against Grazer AK on Wednesday.
