Hertha BSC Berlin's FIFA World Cup-winning striker, Luizão, has been ruled out for six weeks after damaging his groin in a friendly against Karlsruher SC.
First-half collision
The 28-year-old Brazilian, who joined the German club on a free transfer in the summer from Grêmio Football Porto Alegrense, suffered the injury when colliding with the Karlsruher goalkeeper. Luizão, who has scored twice in seven matches this season, was replaced at half-time and the match finished 0-0.
Bobic return?
Luizão's injury could see Fredi Bobic return to the side after he was dropped by coach Hans Meyer due to his poor form. Hertha, second bottom of the Bundesliga, travel to the leaders SV Werder Bremen when the season resumes this weekend following the winter break .
