Luyindula double
Lyon recovered from their 4-1 French Cup mauling at the hands of leaders AS Monaco FC in midweek to close the gap at the top to four points and leapfrog Paris Saint-Germain FC and opponents Auxerre in the process. Luyindula opened the scoring with the help of a deflection in the eighth minute and the striker doubled the visitors' advantage with his 12th goal of the season from Florent Malouda's cross midway through the second half.
Precious win
Jean-Alain Boumsong gave the home side hope with 15 minutes remaining but Lyon held out for a precious away win, carrying them on to 47 points and consigning Auxerre to defeat for only the second time in their last nine Ligue 1 matches.
