Panathinaikos proceed to top

Michalis Konstantinou was on target as Panathinaikos FC moved to the summit of the Alpha Ethniki.

Polish striker Maciej Bykowski scored twice as Panathinaikos FC moved to the top of the Alpha Ethniki with a comprehensive win against Iraklis FC, while AEK Athens FC were held to a goalless draw.

Fifth win
Making his first start this season in place of the injured Dimitris Papadopoulos, Bykowski added to his goal three minutes after coming on as a substitute against Panionios NFC last week with two in five minutes midway through the first half to put Panathinaikos on course for their fifth win of the season. Michalis Konstantinou made it three on 64 minutes before Sotiris Kyrgiakos completed a 4-0 victory four minutes later.

Olympiacos draw
The side that began the weekend in top spot, AEK, were held for a second week in succession as they drew 0-0 draw at home against local rivals Olympiacos CFP. Almost 65,000 people filed into the new Olympic Stadium, but they were ultimately disappointed as the side that defeated AS Monaco FC in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday defended well to gain a share of the spoils.

Carabas strike
Olympiacos nevertheless dropped a place to fourth after Xanthi FC won 2-0 against Halkidona FC. Romanian midfield player Stelian Carabas scored his first goal of the season in first-half injury time to give his side what proved to be an unassailable two-goal cushion at the interval.

Unbeaten Egaleo
Egaleo FC bounced back from a miserable 4-0 defeat by FK Partizan in the UEFA Cup on Thursday with a one-goal win against Kerkira FC to maintain their unbeaten start to the domestic season and climb fifth. Greece's other UEFA Cup representatives, Panionios NFC, who also conceded four in midweek, were held to a goalless draw at home against Apollon Kalamarias FC.

Maiden win
The game between Ionikos FC and Kallithea FC also ended 0-0, while at the foot of the table, newly-promoted Ergotelis enjoyed their first win in the top flight with a 2-0 triumph at PAOK FC. The home side were reduced to ten men when defender Paraskevas Andralas was sent off on 40 minutes and two second-half goals from Patrick Ogunsoto - who has scored three of his side's four goals this season - gave the visitors all three points. PAOK's city rivals Aris Thessaloniki FC now lie bottom after a 1-1 draw against OFI Crete FC.
