Aghahowa injury shakes Shakhtar

Ukrainian title chasers FC Shakhtar Donetsk could be without striker Julius Aghahowa for the rest of the season.

Knee problem
The Nigerian international suffered a serious knee injury in Saturday's 5-2 league victory against FC Obolon Kyiv and may not return for the final eight rounds of the current campaign. Shakhtar are five points ahead of FC Dynamo Kyiv with a game in hand, and are also through to the Ukrainian Cup semi-finals.

Major worry
"Julius has gone to Germany for a scan," said Shakhtar coach Mircea Lucescu. "Only after that will we be able to say how serious his injury is." There are fears, though, that the player could be out for up to six months. Aghahowa, 23, played five times in this season's UEFA Champions League group stage, scoring two goals, and has averaged a goal every other game in domestic league action.
