Ricardo accepts Bordeaux challenge

FC Girondins de Bordeaux have brought experienced Brazilian coach Ricardo Gomes Raymundo back to Ligue 1.

Pavon problem
Bordeaux had to look for a replacement after Michel Pavon announced on Monday that he would be stepping down because of a heart complaint. Ricardo, 40, previously played for and then coached Paris Saint-Germain FC, guiding them to the French Cup and League Cup in the 1997/98 campaign before heading back to his homeland.

Plenty of work
In Brazil, Ricardo worked for SC Recife, EC Vitória, Coritiba FC and EC Juventude as well as the national Olympic squad from 2002-04. He then took charge at CR Flamengo but could not resist the chance to help Bordeaux as they seek to build on their 15th-placed finish last season.
