Gerrard and Carragher commit

Liverpool FC captain Steven Gerrard and his deputy Jamie Carragher have both signed new four-year contracts with the UEFA Champions League finalists.

Liverpool FC captain Steven Gerrard and his deputy Jamie Carragher have signed new four-year contracts fresh from their second UEFA Champions League final with the club.

European honours
Midfielder Gerrard, 27, and versatile 29-year-old defender Carragher both came through the youth ranks at Liverpool and were part of the team that won the UEFA Cup in 2001 as well as the UEFA Champions League four seasons later, adding the UEFA Super Cup to their collection in both years. The England team-mates are now committed to Liverpool until 2011, having helped them to the UEFA Champions League final again this term, losing to AC Milan having beaten the same side two years ago. They have also lifted two FA Cups and two English League Cups with the Reds.

'Very pleased'
Gerrard said: "I'm just pleased to get it out of the way and we look forward to next season now. Hopefully over the next four years we can deliver a lot more trophies." Carragher added: "I am very pleased. Obviously we are both local lads and I've always said I wanted to stay here for the rest of my career."
