ACF Fiorentina have added steel to their back line with the signings of Peruvian international left-back Juan Manuel Vargas and Torino FC stalwart Gianluca Comotto.
Double dealing
The Viola have splashed out a reported €11m on the 24-year-old Vargas, who arrives from Calcio Catania on a five-year contract. No fee has been released for the Comotto transfer, but the 29-year-old will have a three-year deal with Cesare Prandelli's side.
Experienced campaigners
Vargas, capped 17 times by Peru, made 69 Serie A appearances in two seasons with Catania, having landed in Sicily from Argentinian team CA Colón. Comotto, meanwhile, moves to Fiorentina after an association with Torino spanning eleven years and 152 league matches. The Tuscany club had already signed Alberto Gilardino, Felipe Melo and Stefan Jovetić this summer.
