Italian Maurizio Trombetta has been dismissed as coach of Romanian champions CFR 1907 Cluj after just four months in charge with the Czech pair of Ales Jindra and Dušan Uhrin Jr brought in to replace him.

Czech pair

The 35-year-old Jindra has been appointed coach and joins from Czech second division side FK Banik Sokolov, where he was second in command. The more experienced Uhrin, who was sacked by FC Timişoara in December, has been appointed sports adviser as Romanian Liga 1 rules forbid a coach to work for two sides in the same league in the same season.

Family ties
Uhrin, 41, is the son of Dušan Uhrin who led the Czech Republic to the final of EURO '96™. His coaching experience includes spells at Czech sides CU Bohemians Praha (2002-2004) and FK Mladá Boleslav (2004-2007), taking the latter into the UEFA Cup after their unexpected second-placed finish in 2006. He joined Timişoara at the start of last season and earned them a European place for the first time since 1992. His dismissal in December came as a surprise with Timişoara just six points off top spot despite having six points deducted earlier in the season.

Memorable triumph

It is the second coaching change at CFR since the Transylvanian club won the Romanian title and cup for the first time last season. Trombetta came in for Ioan Andone prior to the start of the UEFA Champions League group stage and promptly pulled off one of the biggest shocks of the year by leading his side to victory at AS Roma in their first match in the competition. CFR held Chelsea FC to a goalless draw in their second Group A game but lost their next four matches to finish bottom of the section. CFR are fourth in Liga 1 at the midway point of the season, six points behind leaders FC Dinamo 1948 Bucureşti.
