Eintracht fightback stuns Bayern

Eintracht Frankfurt scored two late goals to defeat Bundesliga leaders FC Bayern München on Saturday and leave FC Schalke 04 with a chance of ending the weekend at the summit after Bayer 04 Leverkusen also lost.

Bayern travelled to Frankfurt on the back of a 19-game unbeaten run in the league and were on course to extend both that sequence and their advantage at the top with three minutes to play thanks to Miroslav Klose's sixth-minute opener. The game spun on its head late on, though, as 19-year-old substitute Juvhel Tsoumou first drew the hosts level before Martin Fenin struck an 89th-minute winner.

Bayern, who were paired with Manchester United FC in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals on Friday, have 56 points from 27 matches. Schalke are two points behind in second ahead of their trip to Hamburger SV on Sunday, while Leverkusen remain third on 53 following a 3-0 defeat at BV Borussia Dortmund, for whom Lucas Barrios (2) and substitute Dimitar Rangelov scored second-half goals.

Substitute Torsten Frings (81) scored three minutes after replacing Tim Borowski as Werder Bremen's push for a place in UEFA club competition next term continued apace with a 3-2 home win against lowly VfL Bochum 1848. Bochum, who twice took the lead at the Weserstadion, remain in trouble four points above the relegation zone.

VfB Stuttgart, meanwhile, showed no signs of a hangover from Wednesday's 4-0 reverse at FC Barcelona by climbing to seventh with a 2-0 triumph over strugglers Hannover 96, Ciprian Marica scoring in each half. Elsewhere, second-bottom SC Freiburg beat mid-table 1. FSV Mainz 05 1-0 and fellow strugglers 1. FC Nürnberg drew 0-0 at home with TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. VfL Wolfsburg entertain Hertha BSC Berlin in Sunday's other fixture, while 1. FC Köln-VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach finished 1-1 on Friday.
