CFR 1907 Cluj won the Romanian Cup for the third year in succession after beating SC Vaslui 5-4 on penalties following a goalless draw to complete a domestic double.

CFR 1907 Cluj won the Romanian Cup for the third year in succession after beating SC Vaslui 5-4 on penalties following a goalless draw to complete the double.

Vaslui had the better of the chances but were unable to take them, allowing CFR, who finished three points above FC Unirea Urziceni to win the league, to triumph on penalties.

The previous cup final decided on penalties was 11 years ago when Mariu Lăcătuş lifted the cup with FC Steaua Bucureşti in his final match; on Wednesday he experienced the other side of the coin as losing coach with Vaslui.
