Paris Saint-Germain FC missed the chance to open up a three-point lead at the Ligue 1 summit after suffering a surprise 1-0 home defeat at the hands of AS Nancy-Lorraine, while Stade Brestois 29 and Valenciennes FC secured maximum points.

With Montpellier Hérault SC winning on Saturday to move level on points with PSG at the top, the pressure was on the capital club going into their late game against Nancy. The hosts fell behind to a Jean Calve strike four minutes after the break, however, and despite 20 league goals this season for Kevin Gameiro, Javier Pastore and Nenê, the trio were unable to spare their side a first championship defeat since the opening day of the season.

In the day's other matches, Brest struck twice in 12 second-half minutes through Bruno Grougi and Romain Poyet to down FC Sochaux-Montbéliard 2-0 and move up to 13th, while Valenciennes came from behind to beat AJ Auxerre 2-1 thanks to goals from Isimat Mirin and Mamadou Samassa.
