Zeman agrees Roma return

"This is my last chance to coach a big team," said Zdeněk Zeman after returning to AS Roma 13 years on from his previous spell there, having led Pescara Calcio to promotion last season.

AS Roma have appointed Zdeněk Zeman as their new coach on a two-year contract more than a decade after his previous spell at the helm.

The 65-year-old succeeds Luis Enrique, who departed the club after a seventh-placed finish this season left the Giallorossi out of Europe. Zeman led Roma to two top-five finishes between 1997 and 1999 and this time joins from Pescara Calcio having coached the 16th club of his three-decade career to promotion from Serie B.

"My contract with Pescara had expired so I did not betray anybody," said Zeman, who made his name with US Foggia in the early 1990s and has also coached S.S. Lazio as well as the likes of Fenerbahçe SK and FK Crvena zvezda. "This my last chance to coach a big team like Roma. I hope to do better than my first experience there."
