Landsem to leave Norway post

Norway will have a new coach for UEFA Women's EURO 2013 after the Football Association of Norway (NFF) chose not to extend Eli Landsem's contract following a review of her position.

Landsem took over the 2009 Women's EURO semi-finalists later that same year and led them to qualification for next July's tournament in Sweden. However, she will leave the post when her current deal ends on 31 December, with the NFF head of elite football Nils Johan Semb to lead the recruitment process for a successor.

"As a coach, I must have full support," Landsem, who also guided Norway to the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup finals, told the NFF's website. "It is disappointing that the evaluation process shows I do not have wide support, but I must accept the consequences. I wish my players good luck for the championship in Sweden."

Semb added: "After a slow start in the European Championship qualifiers last year, we are pleased that the women's national team secured a finals place. We are pleased that Eli has led Norway to two final tournaments. When we are not able to go further, it is on the basis of an evaluation and a long-term plan with the World Cup in Canada in 2015 and the Olympics in Brazil in 2016 in mind."

Norway will be in the second tier of seeds in the UEFA Women's EURO 2013 draw on 9 November.
