Liverpool FC remain top of the Premier League after Arsenal FC were unable to break down a determined Chelsea FC side in the midst of a storm in London.

José Mourinho's side set out to stifle the Gunners from the off, but had by far the better chances of the first half. Ramires headed over before Eden Hazard laid the ball off for Frank Lampard, only for his effort to ping back off the underside of the crossbar. Wojciech Szczęsny saved from Fernando Torres, Per Mertesacker made a similarly key intervention and Willian fired at the goalkeeper before the break following a swift Hazard thrust.

With Chelsea happy to soak up pressure and hit on the counter, it took Arsenal until the latter stages of the second half to gain some meaningful purchase. Olivier Giroud passed up possibly the best chance of the night when he found the side-netting following Aaron Ramsey's fine ball over the defence, and Petr Čech was only called into action in the final minutes when he and John Terry combined to stop Giroud making amends for his earlier miss.
