Borussia Dortmund have tied down German international midfielder İlkay Gündoğan, who has featured just once this season due to a back problem, until summer 2016.
The 23-year-old has inked a one-year contract extension with Jürgen Klopp's side. "I am very grateful that the club has given me this opportunity to remain part of a special team in a very special environment," said Gündoğan. who has registered six times in 57 Bundesliga outings since joining from 1. FC Nürnberg in 2011.
Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc added: "Putting his injury to one side, we are delighted with this deal and hope that İlkay can fulfil his potential with BVB, starting next season."
