LOSC Lille secured a top-three finish in Ligue 1 and UEFA Champions League qualification with a 4-1 victory at FC Lorient on the final day of the season, while Olympique Lyonnais clinched UEFA Europa League football with a narrow win at OGC Nice.

AS Saint-Étienne were breathing down the neck of LOSC, and took on relegated AC Ajaccio at the Stade Geoffory-Guichard hoping for both a win and a slip-up by Les Dogues to snatch third. Loïc Perrin scored twice as St-Étienne held up their end of the bargain, but LOSC also prevailed despite falling behind to Jérémie Aliadière's strike.

Salomon Kalou scored either side of a Nolan Roux effort – his 15th and 16th goals of the season – before Grégory Bourillon's late own goal completed a win that sent René Girard's LOSC side back to Europe's top table.

Meanwhile, Bakary Koné's fifth-minute header proved decisive as Lyon gave Rémi Garde a send-off to remember, overcoming Nice in their coach's final game in charge.

Évian-Thonon-Gaillard FC preserved their top-flight status by overpowering FC Sochaux-Montbéliard in their winner-takes-all encounter. Daniel Wass settled Évian nerves with a stunning early volley and Sochaux never recovered. Aldo Angoula headed another before half-time, and Wass doubled his tally to ensure Sochaux's excellent recent run was brought to an abrupt end.

In the pick of results elsewhere, Lucas Ocampos' equaliser in AS Monaco FC's draw with FC Girondins de Bordeaux took Les Rouges et Blancs to 80 points, one more than the club record they set as champions in 1997. It was Francis Gillot's final match in charge of Bordeaux.
