Legia beat Lech to win 17th Polish Cup

Legia Warszawa beat KKS Lech Poznań 2-1 to win their 17th Polish Cup, Marek Saganowski scoring the winning goal in the last game at the National Stadium Warsaw before the UEFA Europa League final on 27 May.

The accident-prone Tomasz Jodłowiec headed past his own goalkeeper, Dušan Kuciak, to hand Lech the lead after 20 minutes. Kuciak managed to deny Zaur Sadayev a second as the side ranked second in the Ekstraklasa looked to press their advantage, and 29-year-old central defender Jodłowiec made amends for his earlier mistake, equalising on the half-hour.

League leaders Legia looked stronger after the break, with Saganowski curling in what proved to be the winner for Henning Berg's side after 55 minutes. The 36-year-old has scored over 100 goals for Legia in all competitions, but this will surely turn out to be one of the most important of his club career.
