FC Salzburg have sealed their second consecutive Austrian title with two games to spare following a 3-0 victory against Wolfsberger AC.

The club clinched their ninth championship overall by hauling themselves 11 points clear of nearest rivals SK Rapid Wien, who could only manage a goalless draw with bottom side SC Wiener Neustadt. Salzburg experienced no such worries themselves, going ahead through early goals from Marcel Sabitzer and André Ramalho before league top scorer Jonathan Soriano scored his 31st of the campaign after the break.

"It's a great feeling, unbelievable," said coach Adi Hütter, whose charges can secure the double when they face FK Austria Wien in the Austrian Cup final on 3 June. "The fans have spurred our team on. We are worthy champions, and now we want to win the double. It was often a rollercoaster of emotions, but all in all it was a fantastic season."

Defender Martin Hinteregger added: "We are overjoyed. It was difficult and we felt lots of pressure. The team spirit makes us who we are; it's just that simple."
