Jordania leaves GFF helm

The Football Federation of Georgia executive committee has accepted the resignation of president Merab Jordania.

Resignation accepted
A GFF statement read: "In accordance with our letter of 8 April 2005, a GFF executive committee meeting took place on 9 April 2005 and accepted the resignation of Mr Merab Jordania from the post of GFF president."

Chivadze in charge
First vice-president Aleksandr Chivadze is to take interim charge until an extraordinary congress on 10 June, which will elect a new chief on a two-year term.

Congress details
The statement continued: "Mr Aleksandr Chivadze, the first vice-president, was confirmed as the interim president who will, in accordance with GFF statutes, preside over the congress. The GFF executive committee in its resolutions asked FIFA and UEFA to send official representatives to participate in the work of the forthcoming congress."
