Norway round-up: Aalesund celebrate victory

Aalesund FK earned their first win of the season as Rosenborg BK were surprisingly held.

Aalesund FK earned their first Tippeligaen win of the season as Rosenborg BK were surprisingly held by Stabæk IF.

Great day
Newcomers Aalesund had to wait until their eleventh league fixture for three points, in a 3-2 victory against Molde BK on Sunday that was described by coach Ivar Morten Normark as "birthday, Christmas Eve and our national day all rolled into one''. The visitors went ahead in the 14th minute when Morten Moldskred found the net and the lead was doubled a minute later thanks to Tor Hogne Aarøy.

Late goal
David Ljung reduced the arrears in the 27th minute to get the hosts back into the game and his side looked to have snatched a point when Daniel Berg Hestad levelled two minutes into injury time. Aalesund were not to be denied and went back up the other end in the fourth minute of added time and secured the points, when substitute Øyvind Gjerde shot firmly into right-hand corner of Molde goalkeeper Eddie Gustafsson's net.

Champions foiled
Also on Sunday, Rosenborg were denied when Stabæk's Norwegian Under-19 international striker Branimir Poljak smashed in an 83rd-minute equaliser for a 2-2 draw.  The champions fell behind when the home side's Danish midfielder Peter Sand scored the first goal of the game after 32 minutes. Rosenborg levelled in the 57th minute through Ørjan Berg and looked to have the points wrapped up when Azar Karadas made it 2-1 with ten minutes remaining.

Points shared
However, substitute Poljak connected with a headed ball back across the Rosenborg area to dive in with his own head and earn his side a point. "I thought we were going to win when we went 2-1 up but at the end of the day Stabæk deserved a point," said Rosenborg assistant coach Ola By Rise.

Penalty miss
Tromsø IL are still looking for their first home win of the campaign after being held to a 1-1 draw at home to Vålerenga Fotball. They went ahead through a Thomas Hafstad penalty in the 48th minute but ten minutes later Hafstad missed a second penalty and was made to pay when Freddy Dos Santos levelled in added time.

Chance missed
FK Bodø/Glimt and Viking FK missed the chance to close the gap on the leaders after drawing 1-1. The hosts went ahead in the eleventh minute when Stig Johansen struck but Kristian Sørli levelled for Viking 16 minutes later. Lillestrøm SK and Sogndal IL also drew 1-1 with both goals coming in the first half. Magnus Powell opened the scoring for Lillestrom in the 34th minute but Alexander Ødegaard equalised for the visitors four minutes later.

Away win
Finally on Sunday, Odds BK were 2-0 winners on their travels, goals from Morten Fevang (18) and Martin Wiig (86) earning them a 2-0 victory at SFK Lyn. Monday's match saw SK Brann pick up only their eighth point of the season thanks to a 1-1 draw at mid-table Bryne FK. Håkon Opdal's own goal after 12 minutes gave Bryne the early advantage but the visitors refused to give up and managed to draw level though Seyi Olofinjana with 17 minutes left. Brann remain second from bottom of the 14-team Tippeligaen after eleven matches while Bryne are seventh.
