Helgason has eyes on Iceland

Audun Helgason hopes a move to Swedish side Landskrona BoIS will aid his international ambitions.

Audun Helgason hopes a move to the Allsvenskan with Landskrona BoIS will aid his attempts to force his way back into the Iceland squad.

Two-year contract
The 28-year-old defender has signed a two-year contract with the Swedish side after impressing during an impromptu trial. A former Neuchâtel Xamax FC,  Viking FK and Belgian club Sporting Lokeren St-Niklaas Waaslann player, Helgason had approached the club with the offer of his services after his wife moved to the area to study

'Recapture my form'
Landskrona director Lars Persson said of the deal: "Even though a defender was not our main priority, we thought that Audun was an interesting player and he's definitely showed us what his capable of." Helgason added: "I want to get back into the national side and if that is to happen I need to play top-level football. I'm sure being at Landskrona will help me to recapture my form."

Three more signings
Helgason has arrived on a free transfer as his contract at Lokeren was not renewed at the end of the 2001/02 Belgian season. He joins fellow signings Allan Hravn, Jesper Westerberg and Mikael Rynell at the Landskrona Idrottsparken.
