Nani relishing United transfer

Portuguese winger Nani has passed a medical at Manchester United FC and has told uefa.com that he is looking forward to linking up with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Portuguese winger Nani today passed a medical at Manchester United FC and is looking forward to linking up with a certain compatriot when he moves to Old Trafford next season.

Ronaldo example
Cristiano Ronaldo made an identical move from Sporting Clube de Portugal to United in 2003, with great success, and the 20-year-old Nani, now awaiting international clearance on his transfer, told uefa.com: "We've spoken briefly about it. I'll have more time to be with him and talk about different things in the future. For the moment, all I want is to do well."

U21 chance
It is proving a busy week for Nani, who before travelling to Manchester was with the Portugal squad, scoring in their 2-1 UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifying win in Belgium on Saturday. He is now off to the Netherlands to play in the UEFA European Under-21 Championship, having been part of the team that missed out on home soil last summer, when the Netherlands took the trophy. "After Holland won in Portugal, it would be great to win the tournament in Holland," Nani said. "But it will be very difficult. We are among such strong opposition, and with the lottery of the knockout stages - if we get there - we can't tell who is going to win. We'll give our best, that's for sure."
