Club Atlético de Madrid president Enrique Cerezo says the club are looking to the future by signing 18-year-old Brazilian striker Diego from SC Braga.

'Gambling on youth'
Having earned €30m from the sale of striker Fernando Torres to Liverpool FC, Atlético made a significant gesture in bringing in the young Brazilian. "We are gambling on youth and we hope this player will be a success here," Cerezo said. Diego began his career with FC Barcelona of Sao Paulo in 2005 before playing in Portugal with SC Braga, who loaned him to FC Penafiel last season. The Spanish side start their UEFA Intertoto Cup campaign in the third round later this month, playing the winner of the second round tie between Maccabi Haifa FC and AFC Gloria 1922 Bistrita.
