Ján Kováčik has been elected as the new president of the Slovak Football Association (SFZ) at the association's congress.

Mr Kováčik, a 48-year-old businessman from Banska Bystrica, said that key targets would include raising the profile and image of football in Slovakia, as well as developing efficient communication policies and ensuring transparency.

He also said that infrastructure improvements, in particular stadium construction and reconstruction, would be among the association's priorities.

František Laurinec was elected as the SFZ honorary president by delegates at the congress. "It is a huge honour for me. I am ready to help the new president with all my experience," he said.
