The Czech Republic's 62nd artificial mini-pitch has been officially inaugurated in the small village of Bolatice in the region of Northern Moravia.
This important event for the local community, which has a population of 5,000, was attended by a delegation from the Football Association of the Czech Republic (ČMFS), including first vice-president Dalibor Kucera.
Because of its climatic conditions, the Czech Republic is a country where it pays to invest in artificial pitches. More than 60 such mini-pitches, spread evenly across all 14 national regions, have been built. Local authorities and clubs contribute to the construction costs of the project, with further funding coming from the UEFA grassroots programme and the ministry for schools, youth and sport.
"This is a significant project which enables large numbers of youngsters to play football on high-quality pitches," said Otakar Mestek, director of the ČMFS amateur football department.
