Borussia Dortmund continued their impressive run of form with a 5-1 defeat of VfL Wolfsburg, on what was a good day for Claudio Pizarro and SV Werder Bremen.

A fifth win in six Bundesliga matches for Jürgen Klopp's side means the champions are up to second and have reduced, for 24 hours at least, FC Bayern München's lead to two points. Bayern are in action against FC Augsburg in one of two games on Sunday, the other being the meeting of UEFA Europa League contenders Hannover 96 and FC Schalke 04.

Dortmund's latest success was as good as sealed by half-time courtesy of Mario Götze and Shinji Kagawa. Though Aleksandr Hleb responded for Wolfsburg, Sven Bender, Robert Lewandowski and another effort from Götze swiftly put the result beyond doubt.

Pizarro, meanwhile, struck a second-half hat-trick in a 3-2 comeback win for Bremen against 1. FC Köln, who led 2-0 at the break. Pizarro's second goal came from the penalty spot after Sereno had been sent off moments earlier. The Peru striker has scored 11 league goals this term, two more than he managed in the whole of last season.

Dortmund and Bremen are level on 23 points with VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach, who came from behind to win 2-1 at Hertha BSC Berlin.
